This roasted garlic recipe is one of the most used recipes that I have along with my caramelized onions recipe. Roasting the garlic gives it a much milder flavor. I just found this wonderful spread and made my own out of 3 roasted heads of garlic and artichoke hearts.
Roasted Garlic Recipe Ingredients
Cooking time 60 minutes
Prep time 10 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
Beginning The Roasted Garlic Recipe
Start with your cutting board and knife to cut the head of garlic in half through each bulb.
You need a cutting board the size of your knife so it does not go onto the countertop or table you are at. My knives are from Cutco and Pampered Chef.
The quality of your knives will last for at least your life time and can be given to you family later in life. Please keep them sharp so they will be able to help you prepare you food for many years to come.
Take your head of garlic and put the rounded side on the cutting board and cut through the middle of it. I do multiple heads of garlic at a time so I am not constantly roasting garlic.
Roasted Garlic Recipe Preparation
Take a sheet of tin foil that is twice the length of your garlic needs and put the cut head of garlic in the middle of it.
Pour a small amount of olive oil over the middle of the head of garlic. Fold up the sides of the foil and seal it by folding it down the length twice. Do the same to one end of the now tube of foil with the head of garlic and oil in it.
Take the whole tin package with the end open and put in your teaspoon of water. I eyeball this but you can use a measuring spoon if that helps you. Fold down the last short end twice to seal it up.
Put it in the 325 degree oven for 60 minutes. When you pull it out let it cool for about 15 minutes to not burn yourself.
You can squeeze out the now roasted bulbs and mash them easily for a compound butter or anything else that you desire to have garlic on or in.
Enjoy the easy and useful recipe on many more of my recipes.
